Sometimes I share them with a family member, but most often I just sit on the floor by myself and smile, laugh, or cry, as I turn each page. I pull them out and softly caress their covers, slowly opening each book to examine the treasure trove of memories-some before I was even born and all those since. The realization.or perhaps more exact, the reminder, that we never know how much time we have and the we need to capture each moment of treasures for those that continue on after our passing.Įvery year I spend time with my family albums. ![]() I still can feel the emotion I felt as she told those stories. He wanted the good times.the sweet memories to surround his wife as he slowly slid out of her life. He called Donna and asked her for several stills from that photo shoot and how he hung them throughout his home. Then she told us of a couple who had a photo shoot together a few years ago. That family portrait was the last one they shared together. Then she told us how, unbeknownst to anyone, the father had Cancer. You see, she shared the story of a family that had a family portrait taken with mom, dad, children.all happy and smiling. She later moved to NJ and continued to use the camera to craft her art.Īnd then she shared, what became my next "Aha Moment." She told us of the amazing power of a photograph to heal, to remember better times, and to bring people together. Shared her story of her time living in Alaska and finding the camera lens as her creative outlet. She has her degree in Fine Arts-her specialty in painting and sculpture. She had photographed most the major events I held during my years was Executive Director of eWomenNetwork SJ and did my professional portrait when I launched Empowering Connections, LLC. Our presenter that morning was my good friend, Donna Andrews, a professional photographer. But I was starting to morph into his sidekick and lose my sense of purpose. He is my best friend and the love of my life. I felt like me again.for the first time since the State of NJ closed the Cape May/Atlantic County Housing Recovery Center in April.ĭon't get me 's nice to have the summer off and spend time with my husband who is retired. I missed them and the positive flow of energy their communal presence provided. That was my first Aha Moment-I needed these women in my life. It was a warm welcome back with lots of hugs, laughter, sharing of information and gratitude for opportunities shared. I've watched, followed and "chatted' with many of these women through Facebook or LinkedIn, but hadn't had a face to face meeting for far too long. It had been three years since I last attended an SJWN meeting. I attended the South Jersey Women's Network (SJWN) breakfast meeting on Wednesday and had a couple of "aha moments." ![]()
